Time-saving, back-friendly, thorough – machine-based washing with the Schwammstar
The Schwammstar from Karl Dahm is a professional cleaning machine for the mechanical washing of freshly grouted tile and natural stone surfaces. Anyone working on construction sites daily knows: manual washing after grouting is not only time-consuming but also physically demanding – especially on the back and knees. With the Schwammstar, you save up to 50% working time and benefit from a significantly more ergonomic upright working position. The compact machine was developed based on practical experience and technical precision to provide tilers and tradespeople with a powerful tool that excels in efficiency, durability, and cleaning performance.
The Schwammstar is ideal for porcelain stoneware, smooth and structured tile coverings, as well as natural stone surfaces. With its 20 cm working width, it enables a cleaning performance of over 60 m² per hour – even on large-format coverings. The adjustable sponge contact pressure allows you to perfectly adapt the intensity to the material and joint pattern. This reliably prevents washing out of the joints and ensures an even, professional result – a clear advantage over conventional manual work.
The grout is spread over the entire surface, grouted, excess material is removed, and then washed with the Schwammstar.
The machine consists of a motor-driven sponge belt that is pulled through a water container. Dirt and excess water are pressed out by rollers so that a fresh sponge belt is always ready to absorb dirt. When moving backward, the excess grout is washed off and no wheels or other machine parts come into contact with the cleaned surface.
A central element of the system is the highly durable sponge belt, which is securely held on the drive rollers by a special plastic guide on the rear side. Slipping or misalignment is ruled out, even with intensive use on large areas. Replacing the sponge belt and the corresponding water bucket is tool-free and takes just a few seconds – ideal for frequently changing work sites or refill intervals. For clean operation, Karl Dahm additionally recommends the foam inhibitor, which prevents excessive foaming in the cleaning water.
The compact and lightweight machine was specially designed for smooth surfaces. Thanks to a special sponge belt with transport and V-belts, the Schwammstar is a strong and reliable aid for cleaning after grouting. The adjustable pressure allows different contact pressures to be set, achieving the desired joint finish.
The Schwammstar is ready for immediate use and only requires a water container (item no. 40195) and power supply. Thanks to its modular design, accessory changes are quick and tool-free. Additional accessories such as the sponge belt or foam inhibitor are permanently available in the Karl Dahm online shop – ideal for continuous use on changing construction sites.
