Make work easier and protect your health

It is particularly important for tilers and other building trades to protect their health. Good tool ergonomics are not only important when laying tiles. Hobby craftsmen and craftsmen in other trades also benefit from our tools! We have various workwear especially for tiling, such as special tiling pants or tile leveling systems. The tile levelling systems in particular are necessary to lay natural stone and tiles flat and avoid overlaps. This allows you to create a perfect joint pattern.

Laying tiles correctly

Tiles are not only practical, but also create a special feeling of living in the rooms, depending on the color scheme and pattern.

Step by step to the perfect joint pattern

  1. Preparation and removing unevenness: Preparing the substrate is very important for tiling. The substrate must be clean, dry, stable, crack-free and level. Fill small irregularities with a trowel or smooth with a floor leveling compound. Before laying the tiles, you should prime the substrate. Spread the primer over the surface using a paint roller or a wide, thick brush.
  2. Cut straight edges and round recesses: Use a tile cutter to cut the tiles to obtain straight edges. The tiles are scored using the carbide replacement wheels (also available with a titanium coating) and then broken using the breaking device on the tile cutter, a crusher or the super cracker. To obtain a round recess, you will need parrot's beak pliers/punch pliers (pinching pliers). You can use these to break out / pinch out the opening millimeter by millimeter. You can of course also use a drill with a hole cutter attachment instead of pliers.
  3. Tile adhesive: After preparing the substrate, measure the floor area of the room precisely and mark the center of the room. You should then lay out the tiles as a test. You can now apply the tile adhesive with a trowel. To create an even surface, you must work the adhesive with a notched trowel.
  4. Lay the tiles correctly: Lay the tiles from the inside to the outside. Press the tiles into the adhesive bed using light pressure and slight twisting movements. You can also tap the tiles lightly with a rubber mallet. Use tile crosses or our leveling system to ensure even spacing between the tiles.
  5. Grouting and removing excess mortar: Stir the mortar in one of our mixing buckets. To protect your hands, wear rubber gloves when working. Spread the grout over the tiles and press the grout into the joints using a grouting rubber. Then remove the excess material / mortar with a rubber squeegee. Once the material has dried, remove the haze with a damp sponge or sponge board. Once everything is dry, clean the tiles again thoroughly.
