AKEMI Colour Bond / Everclear – Perfectly Colour-Matched Tile Edge Bonding

Whether you're working with large-format porcelain stoneware tiles, elegant natural stone slabs or structured ceramics – visible tile edges demand both visual precision and technical finesse. While traditional aluminium, stainless steel or plastic profiles are still widely used, modern tiling increasingly calls for seamless alternatives. With the innovative AKEMI Colour Bond / Everclear two-component adhesive system, Karl Dahm offers a professional, aesthetically advanced solution for colour-coordinated edge bonding – without any visible profiles.

Edge Bonding as a Modern Alternative to Profiles

More and more tile professionals are opting for invisible edge bonding. Why? Because conventional edging profiles often interrupt the uniform look of high-end natural stone or large-format tiles. That’s where the AKEMI Colour Bond / Everclear system comes in:

  • Precisely matched to your tile colour

  • Over 50 colour shades available for individual customisation

  • Seamless edge finish for a clean and modern appearance

  • Ideal for floors, walls, niches and outdoor use

For precise colour selection, use the AKEMI colour fan, a practical reference tool. If returned undamaged, the purchase price will be refunded.

System Properties and Composition

This solution is based on a reactive two-component colour adhesive, applied directly from a side-by-side cartridge. Processing is done using the joint gun Art. 11126 and the corresponding mixing nozzles (Art. 12070).

  • Working time: approx. 6–7 minutes depending on temperature

  • Consistency: gel-like, non-drip

  • Curing: quick and even

  • Finishing: easily sanded and polished

Colour Bond is intended for indoor use, while Everclear is designed for outdoor applications with exceptional UV and weather resistance.

Step-by-Step Guide: Reliable and Professional Results

1. Precise Tile Edge Cutting

Use a high-quality tile cutter or edge-cutting tool to ensure accurate cuts and mitres.

2. Edge Preparation

Round off sharp edges with a diamond hand pad K 60, then clean and dry the surface thoroughly.

3. Fix and Position

Place both tiles face-down with their edges aligned. Apply reinforced fabric tape or duct tape underneath to catch excess adhesive.

4. Apply Colour Adhesive

Insert the 2K cartridge (Art. 12070) into the joint gun (Art. 11126), attach the mixing nozzle and apply the adhesive evenly to the tile edge. Fold tiles together and clamp them until cured.

5. Smoothing and Shaping

Once the adhesive has fully cured, remove the tape and any excess. Shape and smooth using a suitable diamond grinding pad.

6. Final Polishing

Finish with a diamond hand pad K 400 (yellow). Moisten the pad slightly beforehand for best polishing results.
