Practical Application Tips
Before use, ensure that the substrates are clean, dry, and stable to guarantee optimal adhesion of the silicone. When smoothing on matte surfaces, only one pass with the smoothing agent should be made to maintain the desired matte effect and avoid an unwanted glossy effect. The silicone should not be applied to bitumen-containing or plasticizer-releasing materials. Compatibility with the respective materials should be tested beforehand. To prevent mould, old sealants should be completely removed before re-sealing, and joints should be treated with anti-mould spray if necessary.

No. Due to the acetate cross-linking reaction, there is a risk of edge discolouration. For applications on natural stone, a silicone specifically designed for natural stone is recommended.
Can OTTOSEAL S 100 be used outdoors?
Yes. The sealant is highly resistant to UV, weather, and aging. This makes it perfect for long-term outdoor applications.
How long does curing take?
After about 10 minutes, a skin forms. Full curing occurs at a rate of about 2–3 mm per day (depending on temperature and humidity).
How do I achieve a clean surface when smoothing?
A smoothing tool is recommended for smoothing. For matte colours, the joint should only be smoothed once to maintain the matte effect.
Is the product suitable for plastic profiles?
Yes, OTTOSEAL S 100 is suitable for hard PVC (e.g. Vinnolit). For other plastics, a test should be conducted first.
What should I do for mould-affected joints?
First, remove the old sealant completely. Then treat the joint with anti-mould spray and allow it to dry before resealing. Only this way can long-lasting protection be ensured.
Are matching colours available for tiles?
Yes. OTTOSEAL S 100 is available in 10 colours. The matte range offers a particularly subtle match with modern tile surfaces.
How long can the product be stored?
When stored properly (dry, between +15 and +25 °C), OTTOSEAL S 100 in standard colours is durable for up to 24 months. Matte colours should be used within 15 months.
Is the silicone safe for health?
Yes. It is very low in emissions (EMICODE® EC1 Plus) and complies with VOC class A+. After curing, the product is odourless and can be safely used in living areas.
