The OTTOSEAL® S 100 is a state-of-the-art, 1-component sanitary silicone based on acetate, specially developed for sealing in the washroom and sanitary areas. Its excellent workability and permanently elastic properties provide a reliable solution for tilers, craftsmen, and stonemasons. The Cement Grey Matt variant (Item No. 13105) is particularly suitable for modern construction projects and integrates seamlessly into subtly designed interiors.
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 Sanitary Silicone impresses with its high dimensional stability and excellent adhesion to ceramic substrates. It is suitable for both vertical joints and hard-to-reach areas. The excellent sag resistance ensures that the silicone remains securely in place even on vertical joints in bathrooms, showers, or kitchens without deformation.
A particularly noteworthy feature is the fungicidal and bacteriostatic properties of the silicone. This provides a high hygienic effect and reduces maintenance by effectively preventing mould growth and bacterial formation. As a result, the joint remains clean and hygienic over the long term.
Thanks to its high resistance to UV radiation, weathering, and aging, the OTTOSEAL® S 100 is also suitable for outdoor use. It is particularly resistant in areas such as window connections, glass block joints, or joints around acrylic bathtubs. Additionally, the Cement Grey Matt colour provides a subtle finish that harmonises with various architectural and design concepts.
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 is easy to apply as it is particularly smoothable and modelable. Ensure that the surfaces are clean, dry, and load-bearing. The silicone can be applied quickly, and the skin formation time is approximately 10 minutes.
To achieve a neat finish, we recommend smoothing the silicone only once with a tooling agent for matt variants. This preserves the matte effect and prevents unwanted glossy spots.
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 Sanitary Silicone offers excellent technical properties:
Skin formation time: approx. 10 minutes
Curing (24 h at 23°C/50% RH): approx. 2–3 mm
Processing temperature: +5°C to +35°C
Temperature resistance: -40°C to +180°C
Shore-A hardness: approx. 20
Elongation at 100%: approx. 0.3 N/mm²
Tensile strength: approx. 1.8 N/mm²
Elongation at break: approx. 900%
Volume shrinkage: approx. 5%
Storage life: 24 months (for matt colours: 15 months)
These properties make the OTTOSEAL® S 100 a reliable solution for professional sealing applications.
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 is particularly suitable for use in a variety of areas:
In bathrooms and WC areas, it is ideal for sealing expansion and joint connections in moisture-laden rooms, providing optimal protection against water and humidity. In kitchens, OTTOSEAL® S 100 is perfect for sealing joints around sinks, washbasins, and worktops. It is especially suited for sealing joints between glass and tiles, making it ideal for glass blocks, profiled glass, or window connections. Additionally, it is excellent for modern construction concepts, as its matte grey finish creates a discreet and elegant joint appearance.
With its excellent adhesion to ceramic and other commonly used building materials, OTTOSEAL® S 100 guarantees a long-lasting and reliable seal in all relevant applications.
For optimal use, ensure that the substrate is thoroughly prepared. The surfaces must be dry, clean, and stable before application. OTTOSEAL® S 100 should not be applied to bitumen-containing or plasticiser-releasing materials, as this could cause adhesion issues. Be sure to check the compatibility of the materials beforehand.
For mould prevention, it is recommended to remove old sealants completely. Before applying OTTOSEAL® S 100, treat the joints with an anti-mould spray to ensure long-lasting protection against moisture and mould formation.
Karl Dahm offers the OTTOSEAL® S 100 as a reliable solution for all sealing needs in sanitary areas. Whether indoors or outdoors, the OTTOSEAL® S 100 guarantees long-lasting and aesthetic seals with its excellent workability and high-quality material resistance. Our experts are happy to advise you and recommend the right tools, such as joint spatulas, tooling agents, and cleaning accessories, to ensure clean and precise application.
Is OTTOSEAL® S 100 suitable for natural stone?
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 should not be applied to natural stone as the acetate curing reaction may cause discolouration at the edges. For natural stone surfaces, we recommend a specially developed natural stone silicone that does not cause discolouration.
Can OTTOSEAL® S 100 be used outdoors?
Yes, OTTOSEAL® S 100 is particularly weather-resistant, UV-resistant, and age-resistant, making it an excellent choice for outdoor use. It is suitable for window connections, glass block joints, and acrylic baths.
How long does it take for the silicone to cure?
The skin formation time is approximately 10 minutes, and the complete curing occurs with a layer thickness of 2–3 mm within the first 24 hours. Depending on temperature and humidity, curing time may be extended.
How do I smooth the joints for a clean finish?
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 is best smoothed with a joint scraper or smoothing agent. When using matt grey variants, ensure you only smooth the joint once to maintain the matte effect and avoid any shine.
Can I use OTTOSEAL® S 100 on plastic profiles?
Yes, OTTOSEAL® S 100 is suitable for hard PVC surfaces such as Vinnolit. However, for other plastic types, a pre-test should be carried out to avoid potential adhesion issues or discolouration.
What should I do if the joints have mould?
Before re-grouting, any old sealants should be completely removed. After cleaning, we recommend treating the joints with anti-mould spray and ensuring they are fully dry before reapplying the OTTOSEAL® S 100.
What colours are available for OTTOSEAL® S 100?
OTTOSEAL® S 100 is available in several colours, including cement grey matt (C8682). Other options include white matt, sanitary grey matt, anthracite matt, and many more shades that integrate perfectly into modern construction concepts and tile surfaces.
How long can OTTOSEAL® S 100 be stored?
OTTOSEAL® S 100 has a shelf life of up to 24 months when stored properly (in a dry place and at temperatures between +15°C and +25°C). However, the matt colours should be used within 15 months to ensure optimal quality.
Is OTTOSEAL® S 100 safe for health?
Yes, OTTOSEAL® S 100 is very low in emissions (EMICODE® EC1 Plus) and complies with the VOC Class A+. Once cured, the product is odourless and thus safe for use in living areas. It also complies with REACH regulations and meets high environmental standards.
How should I apply OTTOSEAL® S 100?
OTTOSEAL® S 100 can be applied evenly with a caulking gun or cartridge gun. Make sure the joints are properly filled and smooth the surface with a joint scraper or smoothing agent to achieve a clean and even joint.
Can OTTOSEAL® S 100 also be used for connection joints in sanitary areas?
Yes, OTTOSEAL® S 100 is especially suitable for connection and expansion joints in sanitary areas such as bathrooms, showers, or toilets. The silicone provides a permanent seal and protects against cracks and moisture.
Are there alternatives for applications on natural stone?
For natural stone, we recommend using a special natural stone silicone as OTTOSEAL® S 100 may cause discolouration at the edges due to its acetate curing reaction. Silicones specially developed for natural stone offer a better solution without the risk of discolouration.
Can joints be re-sealed with OTTOSEAL® S 100 at any time?
Yes, OTTOSEAL® S 100 can be re-sealed if needed, as long as the old sealant has been completely removed and the surface is clean and dry. If the joints are dirty or damp, adhesion may be compromised, so proper preparation is essential.
How should I deal with OTTOSEAL® S 100 residue?
Any OTTOSEAL® S 100 residue should be wiped off immediately while the material is still uncured. Use a suitable silicone remover or cleaning agent specifically designed for silicone residues.
