The OTTOSEAL® S 100 sanitary silicone in the anthracite matt (C8683) variant is the perfect solution for professional sealing work in the sanitary sector. Notably, the matte finish allows for subtle and harmonious integration into modern construction concepts. This 1-component silicone based on acetate offers tile setters, craftsmen, and stoneworkers excellent processability and exceptional resistance to mould, bacteria, and environmental influences.
Thanks to its special formula, the OTTOSEAL® S 100 offers not only high elasticity but also excellent adhesion to ceramic substrates, ensuring that the joints maintain their dimensional stability even under extreme conditions. This makes it especially suitable for demanding applications in bathrooms, showers, and other areas where high water resistance is required.
One outstanding feature of the OTTOSEAL® S 100 is its excellent stand-up stability, allowing for a clean application even on vertical joints. Thanks to its superb smoothness, the silicone can be processed quickly and precisely – an ideal characteristic for clean, efficient work.
Furthermore, the silicone is fungicidal and bacteriostatic, ensuring extended hygiene and minimizing maintenance efforts. Thanks to its UV- and weather-resistant properties, the silicone remains stable even under outdoor conditions and retains its elastic properties over time.
The matte colour variant of the silicone blends perfectly into modern bathroom designs, providing a visually unobtrusive yet high-quality joint seal. This makes it the ideal choice for projects where aesthetic aspects are just as important as technical requirements.
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 is perfect for sealing in wet rooms, particularly in bathrooms, showers, and WCs, where the joints must meet particularly high demands for durability and hygiene. It is also used in kitchens or around washbasins as it reliably protects against moisture.
Another typical application is sealing between glass, ceramics, and acrylic baths. Especially with glass blocks or window connections, the silicone ensures a long-lasting, visually appealing seal.
Before applying the OTTOSEAL® S 100, it is important that the substrates are clean, dry, and load-bearing. If necessary, clean the surface beforehand with a suitable primer to ensure optimum adhesion.
For smoothing the joints, use a suitable smoothing agent. For the matte variant, it is recommended to smooth only once to preserve the desired matte effect and avoid unsightly shiny spots.
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 is not suitable for use on bitumen-containing or plasticizer-releasing materials. A compatibility test beforehand is advisable, especially if you plan to use the silicone on less common surfaces.
If a joint is already affected by mould, the old sealant must be completely removed. We then recommend applying an anti-mould spray to ensure long-term mould prevention.

Is OTTOSEAL® S 100 suitable for natural stone?
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 is not suitable for natural stone due to the acetate crosslinking reaction, which may lead to edge discolorations. For natural stone surfaces, we recommend a specially formulated natural stone silicone.
Can OTTOSEAL® S 100 also be used outdoors?
Yes, the OTTOSEAL® S 100 is ideal for outdoor use. It is UV-resistant, weather-resistant, and resistant to temperature fluctuations, ensuring that it remains permanently elastic even under extreme weather conditions.
How long does it take for the silicone to fully cure?
The skin formation occurs after about 10 minutes. The full curing of the silicone, i.e., the hardening to 2–3 mm per day, takes approximately 24 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. The application temperature should be between +5 °C and +35 °C to achieve optimal results.
How should I handle mouldy joints?
If the joints are mouldy, the old sealant should be completely removed. After removal, treat the joint with an anti-mould spray to ensure long-term mould prevention. Ensure that the joint is completely dry before regrouting.
Is the silicone safe for health?
Yes, the OTTOSEAL® S 100 is very low-emission and meets the requirements of the EMICODE® EC1 Plus label, indicating very low VOC emissions. Once cured, the silicone is odourless and thus safe for use in living areas. The product also complies with the VOC Emissions Class A+.
What colours are available for OTTOSEAL® S 100?
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 is available in a variety of colours, both in transparent and matte versions. Some of the colours include:
White matt
Silver Grey matt
Manhattan matt
Cement Grey matt
Anthracite matt (C8683)
Pergamon matt
Bahama Beige matt
Caramel matt
Especially the matte version offers a subtle integration into modern tile and construction designs, making the seals visually unobtrusive yet functional.
How can I apply OTTOSEAL® S 100 cleanly and effectively?
Before applying the OTTOSEAL® S 100, it is important that the substrates are clean, dry, and load-bearing.
For finishing the joint, we recommend using a finishing agent to achieve an even surface. For matte colours, it is important to only smooth the silicone once to preserve the matte effect and avoid unwanted gloss effects.
What should I consider when using OTTOSEAL® S 100 on plastics?
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 is suitable for rigid PVC (e.g., Vinnolit), but for other plastics, we recommend a pre-test to check material compatibility. It is not suitable for bitumen-containing or plasticizer-releasing materials.
How long can I store OTTOSEAL® S 100?
The OTTOSEAL® S 100 has a storage life of 24 months (for matte colours, the shelf life is only 15 months). Store the silicone in a cool, dry place at a temperature between +15 °C and +25 °C to ensure durability and quality.
Can I use OTTOSEAL® S 100 for all types of joints?
Yes, the OTTOSEAL® S 100 is suitable for connection and expansion joints in bathrooms, showers, WCs, and other sanitary areas. It can also be used for sealing in kitchens or around washbasins, as well as between glass, ceramics, and acrylic bathtubs. However, it should not be used on bitumen-containing or plasticizer-releasing materials, so a compatibility test is advisable in such cases.
What is the difference between the transparent and matte versions of OTTOSEAL® S 100?
The transparent version is ideal for inconspicuous, clear joints in areas where the silicone should be barely visible, such as around glass profiles or shower walls. The matte version, on the other hand, provides a subtle integration into modern construction designs, as it integrates the sealant unobtrusively while maintaining aesthetics.
How does OTTOSEAL® S 100 perform under extreme temperatures?
The silicone offers excellent temperature resistance from –40 °C to +180 °C. This makes it suitable for use in both cold and hot environments, remaining elastic and stable even under extreme conditions.
Is OTTOSEAL® S 100 also suitable for expansion joints?

Can I use OTTOSEAL® S 100 on cleaned surfaces?
Yes, the silicone adheres particularly well to cleaned and dry surfaces. If the joints are affected by mould or other residues, the old sealant should first be removed and the joint thoroughly cleaned before applying the new sealant with OTTOSEAL® S 100.
Do I need to follow any special care instructions after using OTTOSEAL® S 100?
After application, it is important to regularly inspect the joints and keep them clean to maintain hygiene. Avoid direct contact with harsh cleaning agents that could impair the elasticity or adhesion of the silicone.
