Before applying the OTTOSEAL® S 100 Sanitary Silicone, ensure that the substrates are clean, dry, and load-bearing. For particularly stubborn dirt, we recommend cleaning the surface with OTTO Cleaner T.
Smooth the joints after application with a smoothing agent. For matt colours like Pergamon, ensure you only smooth the joint once to maintain the desired matt effect and avoid any glossy spots.
For optimal protection against mould, old sealants should be completely removed before reapplying silicone. An application of an anti-mould spray provides additional protection.
OTTOSEAL® S 100 is suitable for use on ceramics, glass, acrylic, and other ceramic substrates. For processing and clean joint smoothing, we recommend the use of joint smoothing tools and smoothing agents, which you can also find in our online shop.

Is OTTOSEAL® S 100 suitable for natural stone?
Due to the acetate crosslinking reaction, OTTOSEAL® S 100 is not suitable for natural stone as this reaction may cause discolouration at the edges. For natural stone, we recommend a special natural stone silicone.
How long does it take for the silicone to fully cure?
The skin formation occurs after approximately 10 minutes, but full curing of about 2–3 mm per day can take up to 24 hours, depending on environmental conditions.
Can I use OTTOSEAL® S 100 outdoors?
Yes, the silicone is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, as it is UV-resistant and weatherproof. It remains flexible and reliable even in extreme temperatures from –40°C to +180°C.
How do I deal with mouldy joints?
First, all old sealants must be completely removed. Then, the joints can be treated with an anti-mould spray before applying the new silicone.
Can OTTOSEAL® S 100 be used for expansion joints?
Yes, the silicone is excellent for use in expansion joints in damp areas as it has high elasticity and reliably seals even with movement in the substrate.
How do I properly smooth the joints?
Use a smoothing agent to smooth the joints evenly and cleanly. For matt colours like Pergamon, the joint should only be smoothed once to maintain the matte effect.
How long can OTTOSEAL® S 100 be stored?
The silicone has a shelf life of up to 24 months when stored properly, with matte colours like Pergamon recommended for use within 15 months.
Can OTTOSEAL® S 100 be used on plastics?
Yes, rigid PVC (e.g., Vinnolit) is compatible, but for other plastics, a compatibility test should be carried out to ensure no issues.
Is the silicone safe for health?
Yes, it meets the EMICODE® EC1 Plus standard, making it a low-emission product. Once fully cured, it is odourless and safe for use in living areas.
Can OTTOSEAL® S 100 be used in areas with high temperatures?
The silicone is temperature-resistant from –40°C to +180°C, making it ideal for both hot and cold environments.
How do I clean OTTOSEAL® S 100 after use?
After application, the silicone should be regularly inspected and cleaned with mild cleaning agents if necessary, to prevent mould growth and deposits.
